Posted by on Jul 12, 2010 in Baseball News | 0 comments

The 2010 Home Run Derby has some familiar faces, but is mostly a new group of hitters. Of the eight 2010 participants, only three have previously appeared in the Derby before. Despite the ESPN advertisements, previous Derby studs like 2009 winner Prince Fielder, 2008 runner up Josh Hamilton, and 2006 winner Ryan Howard will not be participating in tonight’s contest. Click the link at the end to check out our prediction for the winner of the 2011 Home Run Derby. So while you might miss out on the marquee MLB sluggers, have no fear. David Ortiz is back for his 4th appearance (1st steroid free) and Miguel Cabrera is back for his second show (sans drinking problem). Matt Holliday is back, too, for a second go-round (first without Mile High inflation). Clearly the three favorites in the 2010 Derby,...

Posted by on Oct 13, 2009 in Baseball News | 0 comments

There are some big names in the list of 2010 eligible free agents. While it is conceivable that guys like Manny Ramirez will simply have their options picked up and resign with their current teams, some of the big chips in this year’s free agent pool are going to cash in with new teams. Their fantasy value will be effected by the change of scenery, no doubt. Here is our list of the top 5 unrestricted free agents to watch. Where they land could have a major effect (positive or negative) on their 2010 fantasy baseball value. Chone Figgins: The 32-year old has been a source of runs and steals for several years in the Angels lineup. Last season, he batted .298 with 5 homeruns, 54 RBI, 114 runs scored and 42 steals. With three straight seasons of 30+...

Fantasy Baseball Effects Of The Matt Holliday/Cards Trade

Posted by on Aug 3, 2009 in Fantasy Baseball Outfielders | 0 comments

Editor’s Note: The information in this blog post might completely lack “timeliness,” but considering the fact that Matt Holliday hit .500 last week with 3 homeruns, 7 RBI, and 6 runs scored, he seems to be in line for a big second half batting behind Albert Pujols in the Cardinals lineup. While about a week dated, hopefully any advice we can provide you on keeping Matt Holliday is valuable. Thursday night, former no. 1 fantasy baseball outfielder Matt Holliday was dealt from the Oakland Athletics to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for 3 prospects – Brett Wallace, Shane Peterson and Clayton Mortensen. The Cardinals have been interested in Holliday since last offseason, with rumors floating last fall that he could be dealt for Ryan Ludwick. A deal between the two teams never surfaced, however, and Holliday was dealt...
