As more baseball managers employ the defensive shift, it could have a profound effect on some of your favorite fantasy baseball players. Swinging Around The Rogers Centre with Yu Darvish

Posted by on May 6, 2012 in 2012 Fantasy Baseball, Baseball News, Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers | 0 comments

When we came out in preseason touting Yu Darvish thanks to watching YouTube videos of his pitching in Japan, many of you were skeptical that Darvish would rank as high as the 15th best pitcher in the league. So, we decided to see for ourselves and crossed the border to see Darvish pitch against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, April 30.  Darvish’s performance, much to the delight of the largely Asian audience, was superb and Yu ran his record to 4-0 on the year and his ERA dropped to 2.18.  Based on Darvish’s 2012 stats, at least so far, Darvish is living up to our expectations.  The only ding on  Darvish has been his control.  His 17 walks in 33 innings contribute to a less than stellar 1.42 WHIP on the year.  The key for Darvish is that...

Phillip Humber pitched the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball history on Saturday.  Watch the final out here as Humber puts down Brendan Ryan on a checked swing, missed third strike by A.J. Pierzynski. What do you think?  Did Ryan check his swing? The perfect game hurler has played for four teams during a 7 year MLB career.  He’s never pitched a complete game prior to his perfect game.  He makes the Major League minimum of $530k. Humber is owned in just 21% of CBS Sports fantasy baseball leagues so there’s probably a chance you can pick him up if you want to ride his momentum.  We called Humber a waiver wire gem last season....

We’ve been covering the debut of the new Marlins Stadium for some time now and we’ve even written about how the new Marlins Stadium ripped off the public and is going to be a traffic nightmare.
