Royals Have Unfair Advantage in Game 7
It just doesn’t seem right to me.
The San Francisco Giants are at a disadvantage for tonight’s 7th game of the 2014 World Series. Why? Because it’s being played in Kansas City: San Francisco Giants at Kansas City Royals.
This is just one of those things that doesn’t make sense to me that the All-Star Game decides home field advantage for the World Series. Sure, I get it. There was a stupid tie in 2002 at Miller Park and then Commissioner Bud Selig came up with the idea of making the game count. Sure, it counts for about half of the teams that feel that they have a legitimate chance to be in the World Series at the season’s midway point.
But, it’s gone too far in my opinion. An exhibition game should not decide home field advantage in the World Series. Despite the new importance of the game, I still don’t see managers going all out to win the Mid-Summer Classic. They get everybody in. They make sure that pitchers don’t get over-used and return tired to their managers. So, is it really working, Mr. Selig? I think not.
Here’s my solution. Have each league represent their favorite charity in a winner take all battle for a million dollar donation. Throw in a few preliminaries like the Home Run Derby for added preliminary donation money.
That’s what I would do. But, I’m not the commissioner.
