Jim Thome did it without fanfair. Jim Thome did it with class. Jim Thome did it without steroids.
Jim Thome joined the 600 homerun club this week. It’s an accomplishment that only 8 Major Leaguers have done. And, Jim Thome, after 21 seasons in the Major Leagues, is probably the only player whom I’ve never heard anybody say a bad thing about.
Congratulations Jim Thome on your 600th homerun.
Fantasy Baseball Projection: Jim Thome — Despite being 40-years-old, Jim Thome remains a homerun threat in the Minnesota Twins lineup. Unfortunately, Thome doesn’t play every day any more, even as the DH. He has played in just 64 games, but his homerun ratio of 11 in 185 at bats is still solid. Just last year, Thome hit 25 dingers in just 276 AB’s. As a fantasy baseball player, Thome hasn’t played the field since 2007 when he played one game at first base. Despite the fact that he can only fill in as your utility player, Thome remains a legitimate contributor in deep American Leagues and mixed leagues.
