Phillies Ace is Not Halladay, Hamels, Lee, or Oswalt

At the beginning of the season, we asked you which Phillies pitcher will get you the most wins?

Vance Worley

Vance Worley: Phillies best pitcher

Well, 2/3 of the way into the 2011 season, we now ask you this.  What Phillies pitcher has the lowest earned run average?

No, it’s not Roy Halladay, nor is it Cole Hamels or Cliff Lee or even Roy Oswalt–all of whom made the all-star team.

The Phillies pitcher with the best ERA is none other than…Vance Worley!  He had less than stellar minor league statistics, but his short time in the MLB has been impressive.

Worley has made 10 starts for the Phillies and sports an impressive 6-1 record witha  2.02 ERA.  For some reason, however, this red hot Phillie pitcher is still owned in just 66% of ESPN fantasy leagues.

With Joe Blanton looking to be out for the season now, Vance Worley is the guy to go to down the stretch to bolster your fantasy baseball starting pitching.

So, if you are the Phillies, you are now in a very interesting position.  Remember J.A. Happ?  He got traded to Houston in the deal that brought Oswalt to Philly.  Is Worley the next guy to hit the road or will the Phillies keep him since Blanton is not available?  Worley’s stock will never be as high as it is right now.  Could he be the trade bait to bring Hunter Pence or B.J. Upton to Philadelphia?
