The DeRosa Show Heads To San Francisco

On Wednesday, Major League Baseball’s best utility man signed a two year deal with the San Francisco Giants.

Now Mark DeRosa is a Giant. So baseball fans of San Fran, get ready… Baseball’s Hottest Wife is coming to the Bay!

Last year, DeRo traveled the Central divisions of Major League Baseball. He was traded from the Cubs to the Indians in the offseason, then dealt to St. Louis in the days leading up to the trade deadline. In total, DeRosa batted .250 with 23 home runs, 78 RBI, 78 runs scored and 3 steals. While the average, run and RBI dipped from his days playing in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, DeRosa maintained infield and outfield eligibility for fantasy baseball. His power numbers and multiple positions made him one of the most versatile players in the fake game.

We are big fans of Mark DeRosa at Fantasy Baseball Dugout. The stats point to DeRo overemphasizing his power numbers at the expense of batting average – and that’s tough to argue against when you see his drop in average from last season. His versatility will be limited at the start of 2010 season – likely only 3B and OF. That said, he still makes a great bench player for any mixed league team in a 12-or-deeper grouping next season.

Heidi DeRosa Hot Baseball WifeAnyway, DeRosa’s fantasy value is only half of the reason we are fans here at the Dugout.

In case you weren’t aware, DeRosa is also married to the former model Heidi Miller (although, really, you can’t be on this blog and NOT be aware of whom he married). Heidi DeRosa is the two-time winner of the Baseball’s Hottest Wife Award, presented annually by Fantasy Baseball Dugout and 84444.com.

Mrs. DeRosa won our voting in 2008 with some competition, but repeated in 2009 in a landslide vote, securing almost 69% of over 6,000 online and text message votes cast by FBD readers. She is also the odds-on favorite to three-peat in 2010.
