Dustin Pedroia Makes it Big
For years, Dustin Pedroia heard the criticism. He’s too small, he’s too slow, he doesn’t have enough range.
Well, Dustin Pedroia certainly showed his doubters in his 2008 fantasy baseball season when he was named American League MVP. Pedroia is the first second baseman to win the MVP Award since Nellie Fox did it way back in 1959. He’s also only the third player (Cal Ripken Jr. & Ryan Howard) to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in his first two seasons in the Bigs.
But, now we know that the 5′ 9″ Pedroia has really made it big. His name is being used as a keyword in a mobile marketing campaign used by Subway restaurants and the minor league Portland Sea Dogs. Pedroia played for the Sea Dogs in 2005.
