Lingerie Bowl Canned

lingerie-bowl-photosThe Super Bowl is being stripped of its Lingerie Bowl halftime entertainment.

Because of a dispute with the venue in which the 2009 Lingerie Bowl was to take place, it simply won’t happen this year. The Caliente all-nude resort denied that the deal was that its fans had to wear clothing while watching the Lingerie Bowl. And, apparently The Lingerie Bowl didn’t want a bunch of saggy men and women hanging out (literally) in the background of its hot women playing football.  Hence, the game simply won’t happen.

“The league will not place our fans, players, staff nor partners in a less-than-comfortable environment that would ultimately jeopardize the mainstream perception and reputation of the brand that so many have worked diligently over these past five years to build,” said the Lingerie Bowl’s Stephon McMillen.

“We ran into conflicts with the Lingerie Football League wanting more areas of our resort restricted to clothing required than we could accommodate,” said Angye Fox, a spokesperson for the Caliente Resort.

The Lingerie Bowl first aired on pay-per-view during halftime of the 2004 Super Bowl.  Ironically, this was the same Super Bowl whose actual halftime entertainment featured the Justin Timberlake-Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.  Since then, the game has exceeded most fans expectations in terms of its surprisingly well played football game, but the game has not been as revealing as viewers may have hoped.

The Lingerie Football League is scheduled to begin its first ever league game on September 4, 2009 when the Miami Caliente visit the Chicago Bliss.
