Sheff Blasts MLB’s Homerun # 250,000

Gary SheffieldDetroit’s Gary Sheffield blasted the 250,000th homerun in MLB history on September 8, 2008, in the second inning, off of Gio Gonzalez of Oakland.

Sheffield also hit the 249,999th homerun in MLB history in the first inning of the same game on September 8.

Paul O’Neill hit the 200,000th homerun back in 1999.

The first homerun in MLB history? If you know this, I’m impressed. Ross Barnes of Chicago off of Cherokee Fisher of Cincinnati in the fifth inning of the May 2, 1876 game. Barnes immediately became a hot fantasy baseball property after the dinger.
