World Series Game 1 Fantasy Baseball Recap
Perhaps I will just stick to fantasy baseball instead of making baseball game predictions that turn out incorrect. The Phillies won Game 1, 3-2… and I have egg all over my face.
From a fantasy baseball perspective, Chase Utley was last night’s star. Our no. 1 ranked second baseman for 2009, went 2-4 with a homerun, walk, two steals, and two RBIs. Four Phillies had two hits – Jason Werth, Shane Victorino, and Pedro Feliz were the other three. Werth also stole a base, and catcher Carlos Ruiz hit into a fielder’s choice to score Victorino.
Akinori Iwamura went 3-4 at the plate for the Rays and drove in Jason Bartlett to cut the Phillies lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th. Carl Crawford homered to right field in the bottom of the fourth.
Love seeing CC producing on such a big stage. Perhaps we should re-evaluate where he is ranked in our 2009 outfielder rankings?
Cole Hamels won the game for the Phightin’s, and Brad Lidge logged another postseason save. How does the fact that Hamels is 4-0 in the playoffs and Lidge hasn’t blown a save all year affect them in next year’s fantasy baseball rankings?
I like the Rays pitching more than the Phillies in tonight’s matchup… but I think the Phillies are the better team. Phillies win Game 2. I’ll probably be wrong about that, though.
