Fantasy (Baseball) Update: C-Rod Files for Free Agency
Since our story about Cynthia Rodriguez first appeared on Thursday, there have been even more fireworks in the Alex & Cynthia Rodriguez saga.
Fantasy Baseball Dugout’s Social Editor Anthony Wayne reported today that C-Rod has officially filed for divorce from Yankees’ third baseman A-Rod. Cynthia Rodriguez said in divorce papers filed in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court that Alex Rodriguez had “emotionally abandoned his wife and children.” C-Rod’s petition went on to say that the marriage is “irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct.”
A-Rod’s attorney, Ira Elegant (no, I’m not making that up) said he had not reviewed the divorce petition. The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place prior to their marriage and Florida is a no-fault divorce state meaning that A-Rod’s alleged affairs would not become court room fodder.
A-Rod has long been suspected of being a player both on the field and off. Last year, the New York Post labeled him “Stray-Rod” on its front page after being photographed during a night out with Joslyn Noel Morse–a Las Vegas stripper.
More recently, A-Rod has been linked to singing icon Madonna who is no stranger to baseball either. Madonna starred as Mae Morbadito in the 1992 film “A League of their Own.” Madonna has denied any association with A-Rod other than that they share the same agent and the Kaballah religion. So, you have to figure they have something to talk about anyway.
Meanwhile, C-Rod spent the last week at rocker Lenny Kravitz’s house in Paris. No word on whether Cynthia will be entering the “Hottest Wives of Musicians” contest any time soon.
